Our program is an awareness program designed for children and teens. It was developed to provide children with an opportunity for healing and growth in their lives. Often times, children are not recognized as having felt the adverse effects of domestic violence and are classified as “secondary victims’.  We believe that kids deserve a chance for change in their lives and an opportunity to learn appropriate ways to express their feelings. These programs are available through school-based programs, shelter/group home programs, and at Haven Women's Center.

The following programs are available:

Kids Count!:is an eight-week program designed for children ages four to twelve. Our program will focus on a different idea each week, including safety planning, dealing with anger, talking about our families, and finding out what makes each one of us special.

Teens Count!: is a ten-week program designed for teens ages thirteen to eighteen. Teens Count!, like Kids Count!, will focus on a different topic each week. Teens Count! groups are taught on a more advanced level and include topics such as, dating violence, hate crimes, sexual assault and healthy relationships.

T.R.U.S.T: is a ten week program designed for children ages four to twelve whose lives have been affected by sexual assault. Some topics discussed in T.R.U.S.T. include, safety planning, safe and unsafe touching, empowerment and control, anger/guilt, and self esteem.

Teen sexual assault support group: is an ongoing support group designed for teenage girls ages thirteen to nineteen whose lives have been affected by sexual assault. This is a two hour group meeting every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30. An orientation is required to attend. Please contact Youth Services at 524-4331 to set orientation date.
